The G-League witnessed Bronny James having one of his best games to keep up his recent positive momentum. Bronny suited up for the South Bay Lakers and played 37 minutes as a starter to deliver arguably his best career performance so far. Fellow NBA players Dalton Knecht and Drew Timme also played to provide some bigger names for the G-League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bronny had the following stats for the victory against the Sioux Falls Skyforce:

37 minutes

26 points

7 rebounds

5 assists

9 of 12 FG

6 of 8 3P FG

Plus/Minus: +9

James set his new career high for three-pointers made in either G-League or NBA games. Obviously, Bronny rarely plays enough time to put up six three-point shot attempts, let alone make six, for the Lakers on the bigger stage. However, the career high still outdoes his previous G-League games of higher scoring totals.

The young James has a G-League career high of 39 points to make that a higher mark to reach, but the efficiency for a victory shined tonight. Bronny also continued his perfect record, as the G-League Lakers have yet to lose a game where he plays for them.

Bronny May Get Regular Season Playing Time

JJ Redick is unlikely to make Bronny part of the Lakers rotation for the bigger games deciding seeding and definitely won’t play him in close playoff games. However, the Lakers have been playing well enough to build a lead for the third seed as their best possible scenario.

If the Lakers clinch third with a couple of games left on the schedule, expect bigger names like Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves to rest for the playoffs. Younger players like Bronny will get more playing time and could even warrant receiving starter minutes to close out the season.

Bronny has the chance to prove himself as deserving playing time if he has good games to follow up on his recent hot streak. Strong G-League games and making the most out of limited NBA minutes is starting to give Bronny more respect from basketball fans around the league.

Bronny James Needs To Prove He’s An NBA Player Fast

The novelty of Bronny and LeBron being on the same NBA team has already provided some fun moments, but it won’t keep Bronny in the league forever. LeBron only has a few seasons left in the NBA at best, and teams will have to sign Bronny on his own merit after that.

General physical limitations and skills will likely prevent Bronny from ever being an All-Star based on the insane talent level around the league today. However, he can craft a role for himself as a role player with the right skills progressing with more playing time.

Bronny must become a consistent three-point shooter and a strong defensive guard to find a role in any NBA rotation. Today’s G-League performance showed Bronny shooting the ball like Stephen Curry or Damian Lillard. More consistently great shooting is needed for Bronny to secure an NBA job for the long-term future.
