Jason David Frank’s Last Film Comes Out on Power Rangers Day

Before his death in 2023, Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank had Kickstarted a short film, Legend of the White Dragon. That then expanded into a fuller movie, and after three full years of radio silence, it’ll finally hit the big screen this summer.

Well Go Entertainment, which is no stranger to action movies, will distribute the feature in select theaters on August 28, aka National Power Rangers Day. In a statement, CEO Doris Pfardrescher called it truly a privilege to bring such a special film to audiences across North America. White Dragon not only delivers the thrilling sci-fi action fans crave, but also celebrates the life and legacy of Jason David Frank, who means so much to so many.”

Directed by Aaron and Sean Schoenke, Legend of the White Dragon stars Frank as Erik Reed, a former superhero who retired in shame after a battle exposed his identity and left his city partially destroyed. When someone shows up wielding a similar power, he has to decide whether this is worth coming out of the shadows and saving the city that grew to hate him. It’s not hard to draw some Rangers parallels, particularly on the cast level: alongside his daughter Jenna, Frank’s joined by fellow alums Jason Faunt (Power Rangers: Time Force), Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers: Megaforce), and Cerina Vincent (Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy) round out the cast.

Look for a Legend of the White Dragon trailer in the near future, where we’ll see Frank’s career posthumously come full circle.
