The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy is the perfect entry point for Sci-Fi fans who may not necessarily be into superhero projects. The films directed by James Gunn are easily among the MCU’s best movies, with the director taking obscure characters from the comics and making them household names in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy does the work to build up this expansive world and unique characters. We explore different planets in the movie that truly opened the door to the MCU’s cosmic side, with many alien species and surprising items of power debuting in the franchise. The Guardians go from strangers to friends with plenty of action and comedy.
While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is not as great as the rest, it is still emotional. It has one of the MCU’s hardest-hitting storylines, centering on Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and the truth about his dad, Ego (Kurt Russell), who is a living planet.
