ATHENS – “Greece expresses its deep concern over the fact that the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem was prevented on Sunday [March 29] from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem to celebrate the Catholic Palm Sunday service,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X.
“Despite the current circumstances, the status quo of the Holy Sepulchre must be fully respected by all and in good faith. This assumes additional importance in view of the upcoming Easter celebrations,” it added.
“Greece expresses its solidarity and unwavering support to the Christian Churches in Jerusalem and reiterates the importance of respect for the Status Quo of the Holy Sepulchre under all circumstances,” the statement concluded.
