Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was set to make his return to the court on Monday — but that return hit a slight delay.
Edwards, who has been out for six games with a knee injury, was originally listed as questionable on Monday. And shortly before tipoff against the Dallas Mavericks, Edwards was named as a member of the Wolves’ starting lineup.

But then, at that tipoff, Edwards was nowhere to be found. Instead, Mike Conley had to fill in at the last second because Edwards was late.
Edwards did eventually check in, subbing in for Conley one minute into the first quarter. Conley had picked up his first foul right before.
It’s unclear exactly why Edwards was late. The guard was warming up with the rest of the team ahead of the game, and, based on the team’s social media graphics, was explicitly supposed to be in the starting lineup.
Edwards has been sitting out with patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee, joining a banged-up Minnesota injury list that now includes Jaden McDaniels, who the team announced Monday is week-to-week with left knee patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise. Also on that list was Ayo Dosunmu, who returned as a starter on Monday after missing two games with a sore right calf.
