In comments reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Mayweather explained why he is no longer fully committed to the idea.
“In the past, I talked about owning an NBA team, but it looks like it’s a lot of stress in the NBA being an owner,” Mayweather said.
He added: “You see an owner get involved with the NBA, and he’s looking happy. Then, as the years progress, he’s looking older. So, I don’t know.”

The comments suggest Mayweather has taken a step back after considering the demands that come with running an NBA franchise.
Ownership in the league requires long-term commitment, financial responsibility, and constant involvement, all of which appear to have influenced his thinking.
