In January, 15,000 people at a time gathered on the street or in churches to speak out against ICE tactics through singing in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s a revival of a traditional form of protest, using modern organizing methods.
Groups are cropping up all over the country. They grow and stay in touch through Signal group chats. The groups are building ongoing, supportive community groups that rehearse and perform at protests.
Here in Boulder, folks are also finding singing together is a great antidote to feelings of discouragement and fear as they hear national and international news.
