Superbet launches sports betting and iGaming in Greece with locally focused team


Super Technologies has launched its Superbet brand in Greece, including both its sportsbook and iGaming offering. Operations will be overseen by a locally focused team.

The company stated that its local unit will prioritize Greek sports and community involvement, supported by a team of professionals hired to manage day-to-day operations.

John Kalamvokis, general manager of Superbet Greece, said the company assembled “a strong group of professionals” and pointed to the rollout of a social feature, Supersocial, intended to increase user interaction.

We are just writing the first chapter of a future success story that will unfold with impactful partnerships and community projects,” Kalamvokis said.

Greece market draws operator attention

Superbet enters a market valued at about €1.2 billion ($1.38 billion) in gross win, with projections indicating growth to €1.5 billion ($1.73 billion) within the next few years. H2 Gambling Capital estimates that Greece’s gambling sector is growing at around 15% year-on-year.

The country has around 20 active brands. OPAP’s Stoiximan holds the largest share, accounting for roughly 50% of the licensed online sports betting segment.

Athens hosts a concentration of operators and suppliers, with companies establishing technology and trading hubs in the city. This environment has contributed to Greece’s role as a developing location for iGaming infrastructure in Southern Europe.

Despite ongoing double-digit gains in online gambling revenue, digital adoption remains below levels recorded in more established European markets, leaving capacity for further movement toward online channels.

Entry aligns with regional growth plans

The Superbet offering in Greece includes a sportsbook covering football, basketball, and tennis, with both pre-match and in-play betting markets available. Its platform will deliver localized experiences through native desktop and mobile interfaces.

Superbet said its operations in Greece will comply with local regulatory requirements while tailoring its products to the domestic market.

The launch in Greece forms part of Superbet’s international development plans across Central and Southern Europe. The move follows earlier activity, including the acquisition of MaxBet, which extended the company’s presence in Romania, Serbia, and Malta.

Adam Lamentowicz, chief commercial officer for Central and Eastern Europe at Superbet, described Greece as a “mature and thriving market.”

“This goes beyond a typical market entry,” Lamentowicz said. “It is a long-term commitment to build the country’s most engaging entertainment ecosystem and bring people closer through excitement and a shared passion for sporting competitions.”
