I have long been obsessed with animal print—even before it came back into trend. Yes, I was the girl in college wearing leopard spots when other people thought it looked tacky. It goes without saying, then, that I’m very excited by the current renaissance that animal print is having. Why? Because it’s not just limited to cheetah and leopard; it now includes cow, tiger, zebra, and even fawn. Oh, and don’t forget tortoiseshell.
Whether it’s a coat, bag, or shoe, animal print keeps popping up everywhere in fashion, and I’m noticing the trend extends to homewares, too. At some of my favorite shops, tiger-striped pillows, zebra-print furniture, and leopard-spotted knick-knacks are suddenly abundant, so I thought it was time to round up some of the best shoppable options.
I’d offer styling advice, but in this age of maximalism, you really can’t go wrong. Combine zebra with polka dots and contrasting colors, or pare things down by using small doses of prints to supplement an otherwise neutral aesthetic. Put down a tiger-print rug and watch your room come to life. Add a fawn-print throw blanket to that accent chair, and wait for the compliments to start rolling in. The objective is to infuse a little extra joy into your living space, so go on, take a walk on the wild side.
