Mimikyu Debuts in Pokémon GO for April Fool’s 2026

Trainers, get excited, it is finally happening, Mimikyu is coming to Pokémon GO! During the A Shockingly Good Time event, the annual Pokémon GO April Fool’s 2026 celebration will occur and this year, the star is Mimikyu!

Mimikyu will start spawning at 00:00 local time (midnight) on April 1st as a rare spawn, and it is available from Wild encounters and Field research encounters.

It is also widely expected that it will also feature as a surprise Pokémon during the scheduled Pikachu Spotlight Hour from 6-7pm on 1st April 2026, and will be the reward from the level 30 encounter in the GO Pass: A Shockingly Good Time.

Mimikyu is known as the Disguise Pokémon, and it is a Ghost and Fairy type Pokémon. It is a major fan favourite in large part thanks to its adorable and tragic back story. It is a lonely Pokémon that was unloved, and so chose to disguise itself in an old rag it found so that it looks like the must loved Pikachu.

It’s full form has never been seen, only glimpses of it from underneath the Pikachu inspired rag.

Mimikyu has two forms, Disguised and Busted. In PvP battles, it has a unique feature where it will not receive damage from the first Charge Attack that hits it, but it will then change to its Busted Form, which will cause a Defense drop for the rest of battle.
