Iowa City schools name new Chief Financial Officer

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Solon schools’ Pat Moore will join the Iowa City Community School District as the next Chief Financial Officer. She will take over from Interim Chief Financial Officer Kim Michael-Lee.

Moore is currently a CFO, school business official and board treasurer for the Solon Community School District. She has been in the role since 2004.

“We are thrilled to welcome Pat as our chief financial officer,” Superintendent Matt Degner said. “Her transparent leadership style, combined with 28 years of experience in school district finance, makes her exceptionally well-suited to help lead our district into the future.”

Moore will be tasked with navigating what officials in the district have called a financial crisis. The district has proposed $8 million in cuts into the next school year, with additional cuts a possibility for future years, according to Superintendent Degner. In addition, Interim CFO Michael-Lee said the district’s financial records are far from complete.

Moore will begin on July 1, pending approval from the school board of April 14.

“Stepping into the CFO role at Iowa City represents an exciting and meaningful next step in my commitment to serving our local schools,” Moore said in a statement. “I look forward to partnering closely with Superintendent Degner and the Board to lead the District’s financial strategy with integrity, transparency, and a clear vision for the future. I am truly energized to begin this new chapter and to serve the students, families, and community of Iowa City with the same dedication that has guided my career.”
