Nearly 400 community leaders gathered at AREA15 on Friday for an inspiring afternoon of celebration, empowerment, and impact as United Way of Southern Nevada hosted its annual Women United Fashion Show Luncheon presented by Light & Wonder, a signature event highlighting the life-changing power of community support for women working toward financial stability.
The event celebrated the extraordinary success of the 18th annual Women United Suit Drive, which collected nearly 25,000 professional clothing items and accessories to help local women prepare for interviews, return to the workforce, and take meaningful steps toward long-term independence.
The highlight of the afternoon came when women who benefited from the Suit Drive stepped confidently onto the runway wearing the very outfits that helped them prepare for their next chapter. Each walk represented resilience, determination, and opportunity.
“Year after year, we are inspired by the way our community shows up for women working toward financial stability,” said Samuel Rudd, President and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “This event demonstrates what is possible when we come together to remove barriers and create real pathways to success for our neighbors.”
The celebration began at the AREA15 A-Lot with a lively Sip N Shop experience, featuring a pop-up boutique, silent auction, and interactive activations. Energized guests then moved inside The Portal for the Fierce & Fearless Fashion Show, an emotional and uplifting runway experience centered on the voices of the women served through the Suit Drive.
Participants shared personal stories about preparing for job interviews, rebuilding confidence, and taking important steps toward stability and self-sufficiency.
“I went on interviews feeling really confident, feeling pretty,” said Veronda, a Women United Suit Drive recipient. “I just felt like this is where I needed to be. It not only built my self-esteem, but it also motivated me to do better.”
Support from presenting sponsor Light & Wonder helped make the event possible and ensured continued investment in programs that strengthen pathways to employment for women across Southern Nevada.
“We are proud to support Women United and this meaningful event,” said Andy Fouché, Vice President of Corporate Affairs & Communications at Light & Wonder. “Seeing the confidence and determination of each participant reinforces the importance of investing in programs that create real opportunity in our community.”
Through initiatives like the Women United Suit Drive and Fashion Show Luncheon, United Way of Southern Nevada continues to connect women with the tools, resources, and support networks they need to succeed, strengthening families and the region’s workforce in the process.
