Spring color and classic style are getting a budget-friendly refresh. Laura Long, founder of Smart Southern Style, is showcasing affordable spring fashions designed to help women 40 and older look polished without overspending.
Long launched Smart Southern Style nearly nine years ago to fill a gap she saw in the fashion world. “I wanted to give women 40-plus fashion inspiration that feels current, confident and still affordable,” Long said. “You don’t have to spend a lot to feel great in what you’re wearing.”
Her latest spring looks feature colorful outfits from Belk, with every piece priced under $100 and many under $50. Long says the collection focuses on versatile items that can transition from bridal showers to vacations and everyday outings. “Belk has so many great styles in-store and online that are reasonably priced,” she said. “These are pieces you can mix and match for multiple occasions.”
Models Andrea Gill and Lee Rhodes helped bring the outfits to life, modeling bright dresses, layered tops and spring-ready staples. Long also wore a Belk top during the segment to highlight how accessible the styles are.
Affordability remains central to Long’s approach. “The majority of the pieces I share are under $100, with many under $50,” she said. “My goal has always been attainable fashion that works for real life.”
All featured outfits are linked on Long’s social media platforms, where she shares daily outfit inspiration. She can be found on Instagram and Facebook at @smartsouthernstyle.
As spring events and travel plans fill the calendar, Long says colorful, affordable fashion can make the season feel fresh — without stressing the budget.
