Hawks’ Snyder, Johnson named NBA Coach, Player of the month for March


ATLANTA – Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder has been named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for March, the NBA announced on Thursday.

Snyder earns his fifth career Coach of the Month honor and becomes the seventh Hawks head coach to earn the monthly honor.

Also announced on Thursday, Hawks forward Jalen Johnson has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for March. Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic won the monthly award in the Western Conference.

Johnson earns his first Player of the Month honor and becomes the first Hawk to win the league’s monthly award since January 2015, a month in which DeMarre Carroll, Al Horford, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague collectively won the award.

The 2026 NBA All-Star appeared in 13 of Atlanta’s 15 games during the month, averaging 22.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 36.1 minutes. He was the only Eastern Conference player to average at least 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in the month of March and one of only two players in the entire NBA, joining Denver’s Nikola Jokic.

Notable Statistics from March:

  • Atlanta won 13 games, the most by any Eastern Conference team in the month, the team’s most wins in a single month since January 2015 (17) and tied for the fourth-most wins in a single month in franchise history
  • Owned a point differential of +12.1 over the month, the best in the East and second-best in the NBA
  • Ranked first amongst all Eastern Conference teams in points per game (122.5), effective field goal percentage (.576%), forced turnovers per game (17.6) and points off turnovers per game (24.9), while ranking second in net rating (11.5), defensive rating (109.4) and true shooting percentage (.605%)
  • Snyder secured his 500th regular season career victory on March 28, becoming the 41st coach in NBA history to 500 career wins and the sixth active head coach to do so

Snyder led the Hawks to an Eastern Conference-best 13-2 (.867%) record in the month of March, tied for the most wins in a single month in his head coaching career. Two of Atlanta’s conference-leading 13 victories came against the top two teams in the East: at Detroit (March 25), vs. Boston (March 30).

Since the NBA All-Star break, the Hawks own an 18-3 record (.857%), the best clip in the Eastern Conference.
