JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin High School students get the opportunity to show off their fashion-forward creations on the runway.
The Family and Consumer Science, or FACS department hosted its first “Fashion Show and Shop.”
Students in the fashion design class sewed, crafted, and created a variety of clothes and accessories.
The handmade attire was then fitted for students to model on the runway.
The free event was well attended and allowed students to showcase their hard work and creativity.
Tiffanie Moore, the school’s FACS teacher, also put in her share of hard work, which included some last-minute alterations.
“They have put hours in, and you can see it, you can see it in their designs. For example, that dress has my blood on it — I literally hit my hand and now it has blood on it. I think these kids literally have sweat and tears in some of their designs and outfits,” said Moore.
“Everyone’s buying their clothes on Amazon and you don’t know where it’s coming from, or who made it, or the quality. But if I make it, you know that’s my work and I get to show it off. I think that’s pretty cool,” said JHS senior, Gwendolyn Crawford.
Floral designs were provided by Franklin Tech students.
In addition to the fashion show, local vendors were on hand selling crafts and jewelry.
