USC marks Arab American Heritage Month with dance, music, food


Approximately 300 students, faculty, staff and members of the USC community gathered at Hahn Central Plaza on the University Park Campus on Wednesday for the annual Arab American Heritage Month celebration.

The festive event had a theme of “Rooted in Our Stories, Planting Our Own Future” and included a dabke dance performance by Famous Stage Dance Co., belly dancing and an oud performance by the group Sounds of Warmth. Attendees feasted on falafel, hummus and pita provided by Falafel Inc. and ice cream provided by Kinrose Creamery.

Featured speakers were USC Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Andrew T. Guzman and Allison Hartnett, assistant professor of political science and international relations and Middle East studies at the USC Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences, who also served as emcee.
