Just 10 days back, we shared a rumor concerning the Legend of Zelda movie. The rumor stated that filming for the movie was underway, with footage being shot in Wellington, New Zealand. This would be the same location where movies like Avatar, The Lord of the Rings, and King Kong were all shot. Obviously, Nintendo and other companies tied to the film didn’t comment on this rumor, leaving fans wondering how legit it was.
Fast-forward to today, and we have yet another leak that seems to indicate that filming has indeed begun on the Legend of Zelda movie, but that’s not all. Footage coming straight from the shoot itself appears to have confirmed another major Legend of Zelda character appearing in the movie, along with a big-name actor tied to the role.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
If the leaked footage from the set is the real-deal, it shows that none other than Impa will be showing up in the Legend of Zelda movie. In the footage, we can see Zelda and Impa having a discussion out in the forest with their horses close by. As for who’s portraying Impa, it’s none other than Dichen Lachman, who most people know as Gemma in the Apple TV+ series, Severance.
Again, we can’t speak to the legitimacy of the footage, but we have seen it and it does appear to be legit. We’re also not going to share the footage here, as there’s no doubt Nintendo and the other powers that be will do their best to scrub it from the internet. All we can do now is sit back and wait until Nintendo decides to confirm more details on the movie, including other actors set to appear.
The Legend of Zelda live-action movie is set to release on May 7th, 2027.
