Milton Elementary students enjoy interactive musical visit

Kindergarten students at Milton Elementary recently enjoyed a lively and engaging musical visit from local performer and business owner Thomas Besche, who spent time sharing songs, stories and interactive practices with the young learners.

During the visit, Besche played his guitar and encouraged students to sing, clap and move along to familiar favorites like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” “If You’re Happy and You Know It” and “Happy Birthday.” The energetic performance kept students actively involved as they enthusiastically joined in on the actions and lyrics.

Besche also introduced several original songs, including “All About a Bug,” which had students laughing and participating as the story grew with each verse. He also performed a fun alphabet song that highlighted each letter, helping students connect music with early literacy skills.

In addition to singing, Besche took a few moments to introduce students to the parts of his guitar. He highlighted the importance of using a pick to strum the instrument and make it louder, and showed how turning the tuning pegs can change the pitch of various strings.

The visit created a joyful learning experience for Milton’s kindergarten classes, giving students the opportunity to engage with music while building excitement around language, rhythm and participation.
