Jalen Duren, 1st Points Scorer (+363): On Saturday night, the NBA has just one game as the Pistons take on the 76ers in Philadelphia. Duren to score the first points in the game is one of the popular props the public is chasing. Duren and the Pistons have won 53.3% of the tip-offs in their last 15 games, while the 76ers have only won 20% of tip-offs during that span. Duren has scored the first basket in 10 games this season (15.2%), which is more than any other player in the Pistons’ lineup for this matchup. He won’t have to deal with Joel Embiid, who is out for injury management, so if the Pistons win the tip-off, Duren could look to be aggressive right off the jump. However, he is questionable with an illness, so monitor the injury report.
Jalen Duren 12+ Rebounds (-160): The public also likes Duren’s chances to pull in at least 12 rebounds without Embiid on the other side. Duren had 14 rebounds on Thursday in 36 minutes against the Timberwolves. He had at least 12 rebounds in three of his last five games, averaging exactly 12.0 rebounds per game over that stretch. He has averaged 11.1 rebounds per game in his 22 games since the All-Star break, and he had 16 and 10 rebounds in his two matchups against the Sixers earlier this season. In Philly, Duren had that 16-rebound performance earlier this year, and he was raised in the Philadelphia area, where he was a stand out at Roman Catholic High School before he went to Memphis.
Kevin Huerter 15+ Points (+307): The Pistons could be very shorthanded on Saturday with Duren (illness) and Tobias Harris (knee) questionable and Cade Cunningham still out. One player who can step up and help carry the load is Kevin Huerter. Huerter had 12 points on Thursday against the Timberwolves, but he had 15+ points in two of his last five contests while helping to fill in for Cunningham. While he hasn’t gotten consistent work, he does have the potential to post big scoring numbers when he’s called upon. It seems the public likes the value in Huerter’s 3:1 odds at this alternate point total.
