Country music superstar Kenny Chesney shares his thoughts with new book ‘Heart Life Music’

Kenny Chesney is one of country music’s biggest stars, and now, he’s conquering the publishing world. His new book, “Heart Life Music,” has already topped two New York Times bestseller lists.

With this new adventure, he’s sharing some of his life with his fans through pages instead of stages.

“I didn’t see this coming, you know, me being an author. And I wrote this book, ‘Heart Life Music,’ with my friend, Holly Gleason. And I’m very proud of it,” said Chesney.

“Heart Life Music” is filled with stories from Chesney’s life. He called his recent book tour more fun than he’s had in a long time and completely unlike anything he’s ever done. He joined fans at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills to talk about his work.

In his new book, Chesney has plenty of stories to share from his 30+ years on the road.

“When people crack the book open, they’re going to be on the road with me,” Chesney said. “They’re going to be, when I was a child in my grandmother’s kitchen, when I first heard this music, and it was like God tapping me on the shoulder, in a way.”

Chesney has a career full of hit songs, very successful concert tours, plenty of awards and a love for music. In the book, he writes about his musical heroes.

“The first time I saw Bruce Springsteen, it blew my mind,” Chesney said. “But see, I didn’t know the genius of Bruce until I got into college — or Jimmy Buffett, or Bob Marley and the Wailers, or a lot of these people who have become a big part of my life. I knew who Steve Miller was because I had his greatest hits in my car every day.”

Chesney’s recent hit, “You Had To Be There,” is with Megan Moroney.

“Last summer, Megan was out with us, and after the second show, I mean, she walked on stage like she built it. And it was unbelievable to see,” Chesney said. “There was magic in the air. You had to be there. You had to be there.”

The duo will be at the CMA Awards next week. He’s a nominee and a performer.

Chesney says fans should expect something fun. “Well, it’s going to be upbeat. It’s going to be positive. It’s going to be fun, and it’s going to be live!”
