Iconic Designer John Varvatos to Lead Exclusive Cultural Excursion to Greece

John Varvatos, the internationally acclaimed fashion designer whose name has become synonymous with rock-and-roll elegance and American luxury, will lead an exclusive cultural journey through Greece next June as part of a new initiative launched by the Greek America Foundation.

The 12-day experience, titled Greece: The Source, with John Varvatos, is scheduled for June 17–28, 2026.

The program is the debut offering of Homecoming Journeys, a newly announced travel series created by the Greek America Foundation and designed around intimate, highly curated experiences in Greece led by notable figures with personal, creative, or intellectual ties to the country.

In introducing the concept, the foundation described these journeys as opportunities built not around ordinary tourism, but around access, discovery, and deeper cultural immersion.

For Varvatos, the trip is being framed as something more personal than a hosted luxury tour. Organizers describe it as a return to source—an exploration of the heritage, artistic language, and cultural influences that have long shaped his creative world. The journey itself will move through Athens, the Pindus Mountains, Ioannina, the Athens Riviera, and Hydra, with a program centered on art, antiquity, design, craft, and contemporary Greek life.

Among the standout experiences are an after-hours visit to the Acropolis Museum, private access to important cultural and archaeological spaces, a lunch and collection visit at the home of leading art collector Dakis Joannou, hands-on craft workshops, and a private yacht excursion to Hydra that includes a visit to the DESTE Slaughterhouse project space.

Guests will also encounter Greece through the lens of botanicals, landscape, and wellness with Lena Korres and Giorgos Korres, while additional featured voices include Joyce Varvatos, designer and textile artist Michalis Pantelidis, chefs Mina Stone and Iosif Sikianakis, George Orfanakos, and Gregory Pappas.

The accommodations chosen for the program reflect the luxury positioning of the experience, with guests staying at The Dolli in Athens, Grand Forest in the Pindus region, and One&Only Aesthesis on the Athens Riviera. According to the published materials, the package includes luxury accommodations, private ground transportation and domestic travel arrangements, curated meals, museum and site admissions, a private yacht experience to Hydra, and specially arranged visits throughout the journey.

The Greek America Foundation says the journey has been intentionally designed for travelers who value rare access, thoughtful company, and meaningful experiences over conventional sightseeing.

If the first announcement is any indication, Homecoming Journeys appears poised to carve out a new niche in Greek travel—one where storytelling, cultural depth, and the right host matter as much as the destination itself.
