BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WCHS) — A staple among musicians in the Tri-State for decades is closing its doors.
The owners of Route 60 Music Co. in Barboursville announced earlier this week that the business will be closing in early May, according to a social media post.
Paul Callicoat and Mike McCord, who founded and co-owned the store, said it was simply time to call it quits.
“Time takes no prisoners and as members of the elderly, it’s time we retire,” the owners said in the post.
For more than two decades, the store operated as a retail option for musicians looking for gear, as well as a hub for lessons and live music.
Callicoat and McCord said a bulk of its teaching staff is expected to continue on as The Barry L. Smith School of Music.
