One of the Best Free Streamers Just Added Almost 200 Horror Movies and Shows

Halloween is still over half a year away, but there’s never a bad time to enjoy some horror. Case in point, 2026 has already seen a few exciting releases built to scare, ranging from the blockbuster Scream 7 to Nia DaCosta‘s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Sam Raimi‘s long-awaited return to the genre, Send Help, and Markiplier‘s surprise indie hit directorial debut, Iron Lung. April will look to add to the bunch with Lee Cronin‘s haunting new take on The Mummy coming on April 17, followed by Damian McCarthy‘s latest horror, Hokum, premiering on May 1. From Robert Eggers to Zach Cregger and James Watkins, plenty of big-name directors are still set to deliver their next big features throughout the rest of the year, too.

For those who want to revisit some horror classics, though, a few streamers have stepped up of late to tide viewers over. Shudder has kicked off its annual Halfway to Halloween event with some original programming, including favorites like An American Werewolf in London as well as original programming, including the much-anticipated remake of Deathstalker. While the platform is dedicated to the macabre, Pluto TV has made a play for the crown this month with its own special event. The free ad-supported streamer has launched April Ghouls, a massive collection of on-demand spooky features and series available through the end of the month, all centering around 13 core channels dedicated to specific franchises and varieties of horror.

April Ghouls’ mix of films includes entire established genre franchises and singular titles alike. In terms of the classic series, highlights include the first eight Friday the 13th movies, all ten original Hellraiser installments, the first three Scream films, and every Paranormal Activity through 2015’s The Ghost Dimension. Stephen King is also well-represented, from Christine and Cujo to both the Brian De Palma and Kimberly Pierce-directed versions of Carrie. In fact, several titles feature both the original and their remake, including Child’s Play, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and My Bloody Valentine. The films Pluto TV added to its collections range across decades and genres, ensuring there’s something for just about anyone, including younger viewers, with the more family-friendly Addams Family and Addams Family Values.

Pluto TV Brings the Small Screen Horror for April Ghouls

Not to be forgotten, television’s greatest horror and horror-adjacent series are also available for the occasion. The Twilight Zone, The Walking Dead, and Dark Shadows all even have their own dedicated channels for marathon viewing sessions. The crown jewel of the television side, however, is The X-Files, which will not only be available entirely on-demand but will run a marathon of all of Fox Mulder’s (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully’s (Gillian Anderson) investigations on April 20, in time with the platform’s “The Fan is Out There” experience. It’s a chance to catch up on the sci-fi series and the many paranormal phenomena within, in anticipation of Oscar winner Ryan Coogler‘s reboot with Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel.
