Robbie’s Bar & Grill closes at North Greece Plaza after nearly 10 years

NORTH GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) – A favorite bar and grill in North Greece is no longer. The owner of Robbie’s told News 8 they chose to shut down at the end of March.

Robbie Tennant opened Robbie’s Bar & Grill at the corner of North Greece and Latta Roads nearly a decade ago. It quickly became a staple for people to enjoy a meal, get a drink, and listen to live music.

The business also supported many events for the local veteran community.

During the pandemic, Robbie’s led the fight in a lawsuit against then-Governor Andrew Cuomo over his law to shut bars and restaurants down at 10 p.m. They continued on with the business, but today, Tennant says it became too difficult to keep the doors open.

“Ever since the COVID pandemic, nobody has wanted to work and that is the big difference. If I had to pay the cooks over 20-some dollars an hour now, the prices all have to go up and for my customers – I wasn’t going to do it. It just became impossible to maintain that business anymore,” said Tennant.

Tennant has since relocated to Tennessee and plans to open a similar bar and restaurant there.
