Stephen A. Smith believes that Jaden Ivey has put his future in jeopardy with the 42-minute Instagram livestream, which featured Anti-LGBTQ+ comments, that led to him getting waived from the Chicago Bulls.
Smith addressed Ivey’s viral livestream and its impact during an episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show that came out on Mar. 31.

“The first order of business is minding your own,” Smith began around the 25:14 mark. “The second order of business is protecting your own and not doing stuff that’s going to get in your own way, just because you wanted to express yourself on IG.”
“You got a future to think about, and you just put it in jeopardy because you wanted to express yourself for 42 minutes on IG live,” Smith reiterated. “Where’s that going to get you? Is that worth your career?”
Smith’s comments arrive a day after the Bulls waved Ivey for his offensive rant, citing “conduct detrimental to the team” as the reason.
In his livestream, Ivey spoke out about the NBA’s Pride Month initiatives. “The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too,” he said. “They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’”

After the news broke, Ivey spoke about being waived on Instagram Live, saying, “They said your conduct has been detrimental to the team… I haven’t even been with the team because I’ve been rehabbing.”
In other posts, Ivey addressed several things, including overcoming p**n addiction with Christianity.
“Before I came to the Lord Jesus Christ, the NBA was everything to me,” Ivey said. “I didn’t know God. I didn’t know Jesus when I came to the NBA. I was a fornicator, I was a pornography addict and I used to get drunk. That’s all I knew. And after a win, and after all those points, I felt good… I felt like I had everything set out for me.”
Ivey also seemingly criticized Steph Curry and LeBron James about their level of devotion to Christianity.
“That’s why you got Steph Curry… he don’t know Jesus, and I pray he comes to the truth, that him and his family be saved in Jesus’ name… ” Ivey said. “All them rings he got, all them rings LeBron got, all them rings Michael Jordan got, all them people in the Hall of Fame who don’t know Jesus Christ — No. It’s not gonna matter on Judgment Day if you don’t know Jesus and your name is not written in the book of life.” Ivey’s comment sparked Nick Young to react, telling the former Bulls Player that he was “done.”

Prior to his livestreams, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Bulls were already considering ways to part from Ivey before the waiver became official. He appeared in just four games for the team before he was shut down on Mar. 26 as he continued to rehab an injury to his left knee.
