Former NBA player from Rayne dies in single-vehicle crash in Acadia Parish | Sports


RAYNE, La. (NEWS 15) — A former NBA player from Rayne is dead after his vehicle left the roadway and hit a culvert, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff K P Gibson identified the man as Gerald Paddio, 60, of Rayne.

He reported the single-vehicle crash happened on Ebenezer Road near Addie Drive west of Rayne.

He said the vehicle went off the roadway for an unknown reason before striking the culvert and Paddio was ejected from his vehicle. He added Paddio died at the scene.

Paddio played in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Seattle SuperSonics, Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, and Washington Bullets.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
