Where NBA mock drafts project UConn’s Alex Karaban to be picked

Now, the 6-foot-8 power forward will look ahead to the NBA Draft, for which Karaban has drawn a wide range of landing spots as a 3-point specialist.

Based on ESPN’s latest mock draft released before the NCAA Tournament, Alex Karaban is projected to reunite with former UConn teammate Stephon Castle in San Antonio, heading to the Spurs with the No. 35 overall pick. Bleacher Report has the Massachusetts native slipping down a bit further to the No. 42 overall pick, held by the Miami Heat.

Karaban has entered his name into the draft in each of the last two seasons, each time withdrawing and electing to return to UConn after receiving a similar draft grade in the early second round. The senior’s draft profile is highlighted by his consistent perimeter shooting — Karaban shot 37% from 3-point range across four seasons — and legacy as a consummate winner at the college level, but there are concerns about his athleticism and advanced age, as Karaban will turn 24 later this year.
