OHIO — The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Financial Institutions is reminding Ohio communities that funds are available through the Ohio Financial Literacy Grant Program to help deepen the focus on financial well‑being by expanding access to financial education.

April is Financial Literacy Month, and as part of the effort, the program offers grants of up to $50,000 to nonprofits, schools and community organizations that offer programs teaching financial literacy skills to Ohioans of all ages. The funds can help teach budgeting, saving, managing credit and more.
Applications are due by April 30, and more information can be found here.
Last year, the program had a record number of applicants with 600 applying for funds. The Ohio Department of Commerce cited a report from the National Endowment for Financial Education, which showed 88% of Americans said they entered this year facing some level of financial stress.
“These challenges show how essential it is for communities to prioritize strong financial education,” said Division Interim Superintendent Ingrid White. “Organizations across Ohio play a vital role in helping people understand how to budget, save, and make informed decisions. The Financial Literacy Grant Program helps expand that reach so more individuals, especially young people, can begin to build secure financial futures.”
