EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The East Cleveland City Council approved Tuesday night a measure to finalize financial responsibilities to demolish the Huron Place building.
“Our hard work is paying off, little by little,” said council vice president Terrie Richardson.
Resolution 29-26 authorizes an agreement to share expenses for the demolition of Huron Place between East Cleveland and the Cuyahoga Land Bank.
The final price of the build has yet to be determined.
“Now we know that it’s official, and the funding stream is in place, and now with those funding limitations in place we can start accepting bids for demolition of this particular structure,” council president Timothy Austin said.
While council still has to approve the bid of the company that will take on the demolition project, its members believe the end is in sight.
“Hopefully the demolition would begin before the end of this year,” Richardson said.
19 News also reached out to Mayor Sandra Morgan for her thoughts on the resolution and the demolition’s timeline, but have yet to receive a response.
