Karoline Leavitt’s fashion game has become the subject of online chatter on several occasions.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been drawing commentary from style critics with her fashion choices ever since she assumed office in 2025 under President Donald Trump‘s second administration.
While style is a personal decision and everybody has the agency to dress up (or dress down) as they like, fashion critique is not entirely baseless.
It would be hard to deny that there are some fabrics, stitching, cuts and colors that suit one better than others. While sometimes one’s outfits might not work in one’s favor, mindful tweaks can definitely contribute to positive changes, according to experts.

As for Leavitt, fashion experts and critics have long analyzed and argued that the 28-year-old often ends up picking outfits that are dated in style and stitching, which in turn makes her look way older than her age.
While some might defend that she is simply trying to align her sartorial picks with the conservative ideals that are dear to MAGA folks, one could argue that dressing traditionally does not necessarily have to mean appearing dated.
Here are four ways in which Leavitt does herself a disservice with her fashion game.
Dull Shades and Check Prints
A fashion expert speaking to The Glam noted that certain colors and patterns can make a person appear older than their age. The stylist’s observations were quite similar to what Leavitt often wears to work.
From dull shades that do not contribute to the overall look to busy floral and check prints that feel a bit old-fashioned, Leavitt appears to prefer these looks.

Ill-Fitted Blazers
Functional yet stylish, a blazer is one of the easier clothing pieces to amp up one’s outfit. However, get the fitting wrong, and suddenly, it ruins the look completely.
Leavitt has not had the best of luck when it comes to the closet staple. Critics point out that she often wears ill-fitted, stiff-looking blazers that do not complement her silhouette.
Sometimes, the sleeve hems are too long, and in other instances, the stitching makes them appear bulkier than they ideally should be.

Dated Fabric
The White House press secretary is often seen reaching for fabrics like tweed, but opts out of adding a modern touch that could help her style appear more contemporary. While tweed is still considered stylish today, fashion police believe that Leavitt tends to wear it in a way that feels old-fashioned and unimpressive.
For instance, her plain, button-down tweed dresses, without any added styling, don’t do much to highlight her fashion game.

Frumpy Outfits
Critics online claim that Leavitt, who is just 28, appears older than her age, and it has a lot to do with her styling. The Glam notes that she usually wears two-piece sets, mostly a dress paired with a jacket, that look like “what matrons from the ’80s wore.”
There’s nothing wrong with two-piece outfits in general, but it all depends on how they are styled. In her case, the outlet states that the extra fabric and poor fitting tend to make her overall look less flattering.
