Moline businesses with slot machines as their primary source of income will have to change or close under new liquor license rules.
In July 2012, Moline’s City Council voted to allow video gaming terminals in licensed bars in the city. All bars and gaming facilities were lumped into Class B liquor licenses.
Over time, a separate license, Class K, was created for businesses which made slot machines their primary mode of income with alcohol or food as a supplement.
In 2022, the city council passed an ordinance to terminate Class K liquor licenses associated with these businesses.Tuesday night, aldermen put the final nail in that particular liquor license’s coffin and potentially into the businesses that use them.
