Small 3.0 Quake Hits Near Ioannina, Epirus, Greece

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred early morning on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at 1:43 am local time near Ioannina, Epirus, Greece, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 11. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Other agencies reporting the same quake include The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 3.3, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 2.9, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 2.8, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.0.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Klimatia (pop. 500) located 13 km from the epicenter, Pedini (pop. 2,900) 18 km away, Kardamitsia (pop. 3,200) 19 km away, Eleousa (pop. 3,500) 19 km away, Ioannina (pop. 65,600) 20 km away, Anatoli (pop. 9,800) 20 km away, and Katsikas (pop. 3,900) 22 km away. In Igoumenitsa (pop. 9,500, 33 km away), and Arta (pop. 21,900, 57 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
