PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A former finance director used an Arizona-based software company as a personal piggy bank to the tune of nearly $11 million and has been federally charged, court documents obtained Thursday by Arizona’s Family show.
Federal prosecutors said Mark David Latham worked as the finance director for PSC Software and, from March 2009 to about January, used the company’s bank account to pay for his personal credit card charges.
In total, they said he stole more than $10.7 million. Court paperwork said Latham used the embezzled money to buy everyday items. But one big splurge was $38,939 at Vivid Seats for tickets to Super Bowl LVII in Glendale.
Investigators say on Jan. 30, 2023, he used the company’s bank account to send two payments to his Chase credit card for a total of $40,000 to cover most of the cost of the tickets.
Latham was charged with one count of wire fraud. If convicted, prosecutors said they intend to take his property to pay back what was stolen.
Because it is a federal case, a photo of Latham was not immediately available.
