Greece event offers free family portraits, supports bilingual education

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Families in Greece gathered for a night focused on connection, culture and education, as the Latino Family Program hosted a special event for bilingual households.

Community members were invited to take part in free family portrait sessions, giving parents and children a chance to capture professional photos at no cost. Alongside the portraits, organizers also hosted an educational workshop aimed at addressing challenges bilingual families may face in childhood education.

Leaders with the program said the event is part of a broader effort to break down barriers and expand access to resources for Spanish- and English-speaking families.

They emphasized the importance of helping children maintain fluency in both languages, noting that bilingualism can support academic success and strengthen cultural identity.

Organizers also encouraged families to continue engaging with available resources. A bilingual information night is scheduled for Tuesday at English Village, running from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is expected to provide additional guidance and support for families navigating bilingual education opportunities in the community.
