(Des Moines, IA) — A popular event returns to the Science Center of Iowa on Saturday.
The 11th annual Des Moines Mini Maker Faire will feature makers from across the Midwest who will share their projects and provide hands-on learning experiences for attendees. Featured participants at this year’s event include:
- Artemis Return to the Moon – A NASA Solar System Ambassador will present exhibits and multimedia content on the United States’ return to the moon
- GLiB Games – A Des Moines-based game design company specializing in entry-level and family board games
- Japan America Society of Iowa (JASI) – The Science of Origami Project explores the connection between traditional paper folding and engineering
- Powerful Innovations – Inventor Troy Powers will showcase science fiction-inspired creations, including lightsabers and a working hoverboard
- SCORCH Works Homemade Tools & Toys – Maker Scott Skorch, a regular at Maker Faires nationwide, will demonstrate handcrafted toys and machines that illustrate scientific principles.
Attendees will also be able to sign up for workshops and participate in various hands-on activities, including pet rock creation, robotics, weaving, and generative AI. The all-ages Des Moines Mini Maker Faire runs from 9am-4pm on Saturday, April 11th at the Science Center of Iowa.
