The Prosecutor General’s Office of Lithuania announced on Friday that it had requested Greece to extradite a detained suspect linked to political assassination plots in Lithuania. This was reported by LRT, writes UNN.

The suspect, described as a man of Greek origin from Georgia, was arrested on February 10 on the basis of a European arrest warrant. The international criminal case is alleged to be connected to a Russian spy network that planned two assassinations in Lithuania.
The 55-year-old man was detained in Thessaloniki, Greece, for facilitating the transfer of 5,000 euros as payment for planned assassinations in Lithuania.
Media reports suggest that potential targets could have been Ruslan Gabbasov, leader of the Bashkir national movement residing in Lithuania, and Valdas Bartkevičius, a public activist who organizes aid to Ukraine.
Several suspects linked to Greece are involved in the case.
Greek media report that the suspects were collecting information about two targets, but the police intervened during an operation last March and detained them before the planned assassinations could take place.
