Jeremy Fears Jr. declares for NBA draft, maintains college eligibility

Michigan State men’s basketball’s All-American point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. announced he’s declaring for the NBA Draft while maintaining his remaining two years of college eligibility.

“After speaking with my family, coaches, and representatives, I’m excited to announce that I will be declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility,” Fears wrote in a social media post Friday.

Fears is the first Spartan to announce their future plans after the team’s season ended March 27. Fears led MSU in scoring with 15.2 points per game and a nation-best 9.4 assists per game.

Fears is represented by former NBA champion Mike Miller, who is the president and founder of LIFT Sports Management. In 2018, the NCAA revised its rules to allow “NCAA-certified” agents to represent student-athletes while they test the NBA draft’s waters.

Fears could join his brother Jeremiah in the NBA, who was drafted by the Pelicans last offseason. In March, he was named to the John R. Wooden Award All-American team for the nation’s top point guards, the AP All-American Second Team and was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.

“This is an important step in my journey, and I’m looking forward to learning, growing, and competing against the best as I continue to develop my game,” Fears wrote.
