The whole idea of ‘dinner IN a movie’ isn’t new, these types of events have been popping up, and with great success, around the Hudson Valley for a few years now. However, recently a newer Hudson Valley establishment decided to open their doors to the Movie Thyme scene, and are inviting the community to join them for their first dinner **IN** a movie experience, with an absolute classic film.

Opening their doors to the Hudson Valley just over a year ago, in January 2025, in Red Hook, Rustic Tables Restaurant & Bar offers an range of menu items including delicious ciders, hearty comfort foods, and innovative small plates.
The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff create the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy a meal with friends or family.
The extensive menu offers everything from breakfast, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and a kids menu that will hit home for so many parents, with items like, ‘i’m not hungry’ and ‘I don’t want that.’
What Exactly Is Movie Thyme?
After launching in 2023, New York-based Movie Thyme is an ‘immersive dining experience that takes you right into the film with food.’ Basically, as you watch the movie, different drinks and meals are brought out to you as you’re seeing them on the big screen.
You’re essentially getting a taste of a classic movie as you watch it, ‘savor the cinema,’ as they say.
Rustic Tables x Movie Thyme x Mrs. Doubtfire
You know those movies that you just HAVE to watch anytime they’re on, in my world, Mrs. Doubtfire is one of those. Even though i’ve seen it dozens of times, it is just one of those movies that I can’t seem to get enough of, and I can’t think of a better flick to be part of a Movie Thyme experience.
Featuring a SEVEN course, yes, you read that right, dinner that includes ‘five mouthwatering meals and two delighful mocktails’ that you can upgrade to cocktails, you’ll get to immerse yourself into one of the best movies ever made.
In addition to the meal, there’s going to be free popcorn and film trivia as well.
