UNM offers a Bad Bunny fashion course for Fall 2026

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico will offer a Bad Bunny fashion course this fall, and students say they are eager to claim one of the 40 spots.

The class is part of the Department of American Studies, and will be focused on his fashion and visual identity.

“I think is really important for us to interrogate and talk about and think about, especially for UNM students,” said Francisco Galarte, an associate professor at UNM teaching the course. “I’m wanting them to think really critically about what fashion does, not just what you wear, but what it does, and what it signals out to the world.”

Bad Bunny brought in over 125 million views for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. For years, fans have followed his career and style.

“I want to say since maybe, like, middle late, middle school, early high school. So good for years,” a UNM student said.

“I’ve been following bad bunny for a while, and, like, every, every year, every like, era that he has, he’s got something new going on. He’s an icon,” UNM student Victoriano Cardenas said.

With only 40 spots, space is limited.

Galarte says the class will also dive into Puerto Rico’s history and Bad Bunny’s music.
