Taylor Swift has long established a very particular sense of style: her favorite brands (from Louis Vuitton and Gucci, to Charlotte Simone and Free People), her penchant for knee-high boots and mini-skirts, and never without her Artifex Fine engagement ring from Travis Kelce.
But stepping out in New York on Wednesday night (April 8), The Life of a Showgirl singer joined the masses of young women in the city channeling the codes of one Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Swift opted for a black spaghetti strap tank top from (modern CBK-coded brand) The Row, paired with an ivory silk maxi skirt from Meshki, and a longline black blazer coat. For accessories: a Dior small 30 Montaigne Avenue top handle bag, an Audry Rose pave diamond lock necklace and a diamond trail lariat from the same jewelry designer. And, of course, that old mine brilliant cut diamond set in a hand-engraved yellow gold band. Swift was joined by Ashley Avignone and Jerrod Carmichael.
Her glam hit all of her signature hallmarks (save for the usual flash of bright red lipstick), with swooping bangs and a flick of eyeliner.
The last time she was out and about was a tried-and-true Taylor Swift look. Appearing at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Swift picked up seven new awards and gave her ring its red carpet debut, which she styled with a custom pistachio green Wiederhoeft corset and mini-skirt, Dena Kemp tourmaline earrings, rings by Selim Mouzannar and Ldezen, a Spinelli Kilcollin tennis bracelet, and Nak Armstrong ear cuff. Previous sporadic appearances over the last few months (out for dinner at Bird Streets Club and Chez Margaux, for example) have seen her step out in Louboutin knee-high boots, The Row sweaters, Louis Vuitton outerwear, and a selection of Prada and Gucci bags.
Instead, Swift’s outfit called to mind the muted ’90s minimalism of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy (Might she and Kelce be as hooked on Love Story as the rest of us?) with its pared back details and black-and-white palette. This week’s look also had a distinctly bridal air to it, as Swift and Kelce approach their rumored summer wedding date. With spring in full flow, maybe some later nights out at Via Carota or Minetta Tavern could see her channel more of those easy, breezy CBK codes.
