Game plan: When playing this deck, you’ll want to focus on getting Mega Manectric ex set up on the Bench while using Igglybuff and Darkrai to stall your opponent. Ideally, you’ll be able to start with Igglybuff as your Active Pokémon so you can use its Sleepy Lullaby attack to make your opponent’s Active Pokémon sleep. Don’t worry about attaching Energy to Darkrai, as you likely won’t use this Pokémon’s attack to do damage. Instead, you’ll want Darkrai on your Bench, using its Bad Dreams Ability to damage if your opponent’s Active Pokémon is Asleep.
Attach a Rocky Helmet to your Active Pokémon to get a bit of payback if your opponent happens to do some damage. Play your cards right, and you’ll be able to cause a decent amount of early-game damage without using any Energy.
While Igglybuff and Darkrai keep your opponent busy, you should be working behind the scenes to evolve Electrike into Mega Manectric ex and load it up with Energy. This shouldn’t take too long since Mega Manectric ex’s attack, Lightning Accelerator, requires only two
Energy. Once Mega Manectric ex is ready to go, get it into the Active Spot right away. Lightning Accelerator does 80 damage, plus 30 more damage for each point you’ve gotten. That’s right—Lightning Accelerator becomes more powerful the closer you are to winning the game!
Mega Manectric ex has no Retreat Cost, so try to get both of yours into the game and ready to battle in case you need to swap one out if it takes too much damage.
If you manage to get two Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in play, Calem can help you refresh your hand by drawing a card for each of them. If your opponent has any Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in play, you’ll be able to draw even more cards.
If you notice your opponent has a Pokémon on their Bench that would be difficult to retreat, use Sabrina to pull it into your opponent’s Active Spot, then make it sleep. This will, of course, give you more time to get Mega Manectric ex ready for action. Sometimes, you may find yourself forced to use Electrike as your Active Pokémon at the beginning of the match. X Speed is good to have on hand in those situations so you can swap it out with another Basic Pokémon if needed.
Good luck, and have fun battling, Trainers!
