Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is facing new allegations in his prolonged battle with Ayesha Howard, the mother of his 18-month-old daughter, Aubri’, for child support.
In court documents that were filed Thursday in Los Angeles, the 24-year-old NBA star was accused of “intentionally” hiding his personal assets and several businesses tied to his name in the state to sidestep the state’s child support obligations.
Howard, 39, is a mother of two and has accused the NBA star of these charges and admits to uncovering fresh evidence proving this case.
New Filing Accuses Anthony Edwards of Deliberate Concealment
The new filing on Edwards was first reported by Page Six is the latest escalation of a dispute that has dragged on for over a year and has involved public accusations from both parties and filings in two states for custody agreements.
“The mom of two stated in the filing that Edwards has a business LLC and business trademarks registered in California, business infrastructure principled addressed and operational activities within the state, a bank account located in Beverly Hills, and current and prior sports agency contracts connected to California-based sports representatives,” the report stated.
The couple’s daughter, Aubri’ was born in October 2024 in California, where Howard has lived and raised the child as the sole caregiver since birth. The long dispute started before her birth when Howard found out she was pregnant and the NBA star reportedly told her to get an abortion.
Edwards originally filed for paternity and child support in Georgia, which is his home state. However, the child’s mother wanted it to be done in California where she was born and raised. The back and forth hasn’t calmed down ever since and has played out publicly.
There were rumors that Edwards had reportedly paid a $1.08 million lump-sum settlement to cover 18 years of support upfront, but Howard has called the claim “lies”, stating no such court-approved payment or agreement exists.
The Ongoing Saga is at a Stalemate
Howard’s request for order stated that Edwards had specific California connections he never disclosed and previously testified that he had no meaningful ties to the state.
“This newly discovered evidence demonstrates that [Edwards] maintained a business, financial, contractual and economic presence in California for approximately six years,” the filing added.
A California judge had ruled in March 2025 that the state didn’t have any reason to hold Edwards for child support purposes.
Howard appealed that decision and is now asking the court to renew her original child support order in the Golden State, arguing that the NBA star’s alleged concealment directly influenced a prior ruling that favored moving the case to Georgia.
The Instagram influencer is aiming for the child support claim to be followed up by California guidelines, which generally exceed those in Georgia.
Neither Edward nor his team has replied to these new allegations yet, but going by how this case has dragged on, they will most likely push back on Howard’s claim. They had done so in the past when they accused the child’s mother of using her as a “revenue-generating asset” by posting about the case on social media and prolonging a potential settlement.
