What’s going on this week? The Fashion Show and Ren Fest – Iowa State Daily


On Campus:

Following the series against the 19th-ranked Oklahoma State University softball team, Iowa State University will square off against South Dakota in a one-game series at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Wear pink!

The World Ballet Company takes a visit to Stephens Auditorium and will be performing Cinderella from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Rising comic Dedrick Flynn comes down to the Maintenance Shop Wednesday for the Student Union Board’s (SUB) free stand-up comedy night at 8 p.m.

Catch this weekend’s installment of Cyclone Cinema with SUB showing “Marty Supreme” from Thursday to Sunday at 7 p.m. in Carver 101. Sunday is a closed caption showing. 

The origin story of Peter Pan comes to Fisher Theater starting Thursday, going through Saturday at 7:30 p.m, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Iowa State students get free admission.

The Whips, a rising indie pop band, brings their tour to the Maintenance shop Friday night with special guest Colin Bracewell. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Entirely student-run, the 2026 Iowa State Fashion Show will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday inside Stephens Auditorium. Over 100 student designs will be showcased.

 

Off Campus:

From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night, the Octagon Center for the Arts, 427 Douglas Ave., will be hosting a demonstration event on quilting. Quilters will be showing off how to quilt, and attendees have the opportunity to quilt their own square.

Cornbred BBQ has musical artist Luke Fox performing inside their restaurant Saturday night, starting at 4:30 p.m. Fox will be playing his guitar to listen to while enjoying the barbecue at Cornbred.

At the CPMI event center, ARK-itects will be hosting a dinner event with music by Whorlow Entertainment. Dinner and charcuterie will be provided by Schonerts Corporate Catering; the event starts at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

During the month-long Spring Enchantment at Reiman Gardens, the one-day Spring Enchantment Festival will take place Saturday. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there will be many vendors there at various times throughout the day.

Back for its third year, the Prairie Rose Renaissance Festival takes place in Ames this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. The festival will take place starting at 10 a.m. and will go until 6 p.m. both days. Location is 1400 S Fourth St., Ames, IA, 50010.
