As Rory McIlroy lifted the Masters trophy for the second time in as many years on Sunday, the crowd erupted at Augusta, but several eagle-eyed fans quickly picked up on something he was wearing
Rory McIlroy wore a stunning $268,000 watch as he celebrated his history-making second consecutive victory at the Masters Tournament on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman, 36, produced an impressive weekend of golf to finish one stroke clear of world number one Scottie Scheffler at Augusta National and slip on the Green Jacket once more, having recorded rounds of 67, 65, 73, and 71 to become just the fourth player in history to win back-to-back Masters tournaments.
During the trophy presentation, McIlroy revealed that his parents nearly stayed home and missed his historic victory this week, having feared superstition after watching last year’s win from home.

While much of the attention was focused on what McIlroy had to say in the wake of his latest Masters triumph, which included leaving his daughter Poppy covering her face in amusement, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice something the PGA Tour star was wearing on his wrist.
Renowned as somewhat of a watch enthusiast, McIlroy caught the eye with his latest timepiece during Sunday’s post-round events, which just so happened to be a rare numbered edition Omega De Ville Tourbillon, thought to be worth more than a quarter of a million dollars.
An Omega ambassador, having been sponsored by the company since 2013, McIlroy often gets exclusive access to special-edition watches, and that proved to be the case once more over the weekend as he sported another item of the luxury watchmaker’s.
Crafted in 18K Sedna gold and presented on a black leather strap, the De Ville Tourbillon features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dial and gold-finished indexes, offering a view of the timepiece’s working mechanics.
The 18K gold seconds hand is fixed directly to the titanium tourbillon cage and is powered by the Co-Axial caliber 2640, making it Omega’s first-ever manual-winding central tourbillon to be Master Chronometer certified, per its product description.
McIlroy, however, did not choose the watch for the occasion. In fact, he told ESPN’s Gary Striewski that he bought it for himself in 2019, seven years earlier, as a reward for winning his second FedEx Cup.
“So, this is an Omega De Ville Tourbillon. There haven’t been that many made. It was a gift to myself after I won my second FedEx Cup in 2019,” McIlroy said.
“Omega are a sponsor of mine, so I sort of had my eye on this watch for a while, but I just wanted to treat myself after a win.”
Last year, McIlroy wore the Omega Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary, which commemorated the award the company received from NASA in 1970.
It depicts beloved ‘Peanuts’ character Snoopy across the dial, and in orbit on a rocket across the caseback, and was inspired by the chronograph’s 4th generation style, which is famous for being the first watch worn on the moon.
