Winners Announced at Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition

Led by Artistic Directors Marcy Rosen and Catherine Cho, the 12th Biennial Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition, in Maryland, has recently come to a close. The competition was streamed LIVE on The Violin Channel and is available to watch for playback here.

The Lerman Gold Prize, which includes a $10,000 plus a return performance at the upcoming 41st Annual Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition in June, went to the Dolphins Quartet. The group also received the $1,000 Audience Choice Prize.

The Anne D. Moran Silver Prize ($5,000) went to the Synchrony Quartet.

The jury for the competition comprised Catherine Cho, Robert McDonald, and Peggy Pearson.

The Dolphins Quartet is a Juilliard-trained string quartet and composer collective based in New York City. Members of the group include Luke Henderson (violin), Ian Maloney (cello), Isaac Park (violin), and James Preucil (viola).

The group has received a Project Grant from the Marks Center at Juilliard and the 2025 Salon de Virtuosi Career Advancement Grant.

They have collaborated with composers such as John Adams, Andy Akiho, and Jessie Montgomery, and founded a free Young Composers Program to empower pre-college students to write for string quartet.
