High Levels of Dust from the Sahara Moving into Greece Through Thursday


ATHENS – A moderate-level transfer of dust from the Sahara, combined with cloudy weather and local muddy rain showers, is affecting Greece on Tuesday, April 14 according to AtmoHub, the information hub on air composition and quality in Greece.

According to AtmoHub, air quality is expected to deteriorate in Greece on Tuesday, marginally exceeding established safety limits on the Ionian islands, Western Greece, Central Greece, and Epirus.

The phenomenon will spread further eastward on Wednesday, April 15, affecting the Cyclades islands, Dodecanese islands and the other islands of the Aegean. Almost the entire country will be affected by Thursday, April 16 with the possible exception of certain areas of Evros.
