Welcome To The Most Dangerous Road In Greece

One of the most dangerous yet breathtaking routes in Greece is located in Crete, offering drivers a dramatic journey through rugged mountainous terrain.

The provincial road connecting the village of Kallikratis to Kapsodasos, on the Kallikratis Plateau in the regional unit of Chania, stood out for its unique natural beauty and extreme driving conditions.

The 11-kilometre route featured an elevation gain of approximately 800 metres, effectively transporting travellers from sea level to high mountain altitudes. Along the way, drivers encountered 27 sharp and highly demanding hairpin turns, making it one of the most challenging roads in the country.

While the ascent offered spectacular views as it gradually climbed from the sea towards the clouds, even the smallest driving error could prove dangerous.

The narrow and winding road lacked protective barriers or escape routes, leaving vehicles navigating between steep rocks and rugged terrain throughout the journey.
