UW Huskies land their first transfer portal addition
Steinbach, a projected first-round pick, was one of the country’s top big men and an elite rebounder in his lone season with the Huskies.
The 6-foot-11 Steinbach averaged 18.5 points while shooting 57.7% from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 75.9% from the free-throw line in 30 games for the Huskies this season. He led the nation with 11.8 rebounds per game, ranking third with 4.2 offensive rounds per game and fifth with 7.57 defensive rebounds per game. He added 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per contest.
A native of Würzburg, Germany, Steinbach scored in double figures in every game and had at least 20 points 16 times for UW, including a career-high 29 points against UCLA on Dec. 3, 2025. He recorded 22 double-doubles and pulled down a career-high 24 rebounds while adding 22 points against USC on March 4.
Steinbach is ranked as the No. 15 prospect in the draft by ESPN, No. 16 by NBADraft.net and No. 19 by CBS Sports.
Steinbach is expected to be the first Husky drafted since Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels, who each went in the first round in 2020.
Steinbach could also become the eighth one-and-done first-rounder from UW. Other freshmen from UW to be taken in the first round include Stewart, Daniels, Markelle Fultz (2017), Dejounte Murray (2016), Marquese Chriss (2016), Tony Wroten Jr. (2012) and Spencer Hawes (2007).
