Celta Vigo vs Freiburg: UEFA Europa League stats & head-to-head

  • Celta Vigo have lost each of their last three games against German sides, while this will be the first time they have hosted a Bundesliga side since March 2007 – a 0-1 defeat to Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup.

  • Spanish teams have won 10 of their last 11 home major European matches against German teams – but the exception was Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League this month.

  • Freiburg have failed to score in seven of their eight away knockout ties in major European competition (W1 D3 L4), with their one win coming at Swiss side St. Gallen in the UEFA Cup second round in November 2001.

  • Only Aston Villa (558:05) have spent more time in winning positions than Celta Vigo (514:55) in the UEFA Europa League this season. However, the Galician side trailed for 87 minutes (86:59) in last week’s 0-3 defeat at Freiburg.
