Ukraine Secures Gas Supply from Greece Ahead of Winter

Ukraine has signed a gas supply deal with Greece as Russian attacks on cities and energy infrastructure continue, aiming to safeguard imports ahead of the winter season.

‘“This will be another route for gas supply – to maximize the security of gas import routes for Ukraine during the winter,” Zelensky said in a Saturday morning Telegram post.

Ukraine has also arranged nearly €2 billion ($2.3 billion) in gas imports to offset losses in domestic production caused by Russian strikes. European partners, including European banks under European Commission guarantees, as well as Norwegian and American partners, are helping ensure full financing. Ukrainian banks are also involved in the effort.

“We are creating broad opportunities for supply during the winter,” Zelensky said. “Thank you to everyone who helps us! Thank you to everyone who is with us, with Ukraine, with the Ukrainian people! Glory to Ukraine!”
